WHY WE NEED THE CODE OF CONDUCT
FOR COARSE ANGLERS
Angling is unified now as never
before, with the major angling organizations banding together to form
the NAA. We have to recognize that our increasing awareness of how we
interact with the environment as a whole places a responsibility on us
all to raise the standards we bring to angling and to the waters we
fish. This Code builds on the foundations of its predecessor to
provide a nationally recognised benchmark of the standards we should
adhere to, to help and educate anglers, and give an easy reference
guide to clubs and water controllers for their rulebooks. Above all
our countryside and the fish themselves will be really well looked
after if we can get everyone to listen to the messages the Code
contains!
The Code's overall reception is
perhaps best summed up be mentioning some of those who have endorsed
it in addition to the Prince of Wales. It is backed by Swan Rescue,
RSPB, the EA, Wildlife Trusts, British Trust for Ornithology, ACA and
English Nature, plus of course all our specimen group members, the
whole of the NAA, and many, many more! We are indebted to the
Environment Agency too for a very generous grant of £10,000 to cover
the printing costs.
