Fish Welfare Group Publishes the IFM Guide to The Management of Intensively Stocked
Stillwater Coarse Fisheries and the Codes of Practice The
Fish Welfare Group, an operative committee of Fisheries and Angling Conservation
Trust originally started by SAA, Carp Society, ECHO and BCSG, recently published
advice to fishery managers on stocking fish into still waters. As
part of its remit to improve the management of coarse fisheries, in particular,
and to increase the knowledge base of those responsible for those fisheries the
FWG is now re-publishing the Institute of Fisheries Management guide to The Management
of Intensively Stocked Stillwater Coarse Fisheries and the Codes of Practice. The
IFM Guide and Code of Practice for Intensively Stocked Stillwaters is being made
available, with financial support for the Environment Agency, free of charge to
coarse fishery managers and other interested parties. Email mike@fisheriesandangling.com
to get a copy and give your full name, delivery address and the name and location
of the waters you are responsible for, including your club name if the fishery
is a club water. Copies will also be available from the following members of the
FWG; The IFM Code has previously
only been available from the IFM on payment of £5.00. The Fish Welfare Group
would like to express its gratitude to the IFM for permission to use the publication
and to the Environment Agency for providing the funding to enable this new initiative. Membership
